Data Tracking and Outcomes Reporting

The Spine Medicine Institute is committed to practicing an outcome-driven approach that uses proven knowledge to drive decision making.

Standardized Diagnoses and Protocols

Clinical integration through standardized protocols promotes care coordination, collaborative relationships and tracking of outcomes. The Spine Medicine Institute is developing consistent care protocols across several disciplines: primary care, radiology, pain management, orthopedic spine surgery, neurosurgery, physical therapy, occupational medicine, chiropractic care and neuropsychology.

Standardization of spine diagnoses will enable development of best practices through consistent documentation and data tracking, eliminating wide variations in practice.

Data Tracking

Data tracking and performance metrics are critical elements to improving patient outcomes. The Spine Medicine Institute collects diagnosis and outcome data in a systematic fashion to provide outcome analysis and best-practice guidelines for care.

Our comprehensive data set includes detailed, standard diagnoses and quality outcome data using the SF36 and Oswestry Disability Index.

Outcomes Reporting

The Spine Medicine Institute is currently developing a balanced scorecard to report clinical outcomes, patient-driven outcomes, and patient satisfaction scores to practice transparent spine care and improve the quality of care delivered to our patients. Data will be reported on a quarterly basis and will be reviewed by a multidisciplinary performance review committee.

Our database and outcome-reporting efforts are consistent with those supported by and necessary to achieve Back Pain Recognition through the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), as well as disease certification with the Joint Commission.
